Norfolk Wedding Photography by October James Photography
David and Tanya chose Chaucer Barn for their wedding and it gave them a magical setting. Set within the Norfolk countryside, this large converted barn offers both sleeping and living accommodation as well as the all important partying space!
Tanya and David had planned a relaxed and intimate wedding and she wanted her dress and the Bridesmaids’ outfits to reflect that. After scouring the country for the perfect gown she eventually found the ‘one’ at Heart Aflutter in London, the Bridesmaids dresses were a great find on ASOS. Sarah Swain and her talented team were on hand to create elegant and natural looks for the ladies in the bridal party.
David and his Ushers wore slim fit, blue suits from Dressed 2 Kill in London paired tan brogues – a popular look for this seasons Grooms.
David’s parents are keen gardeners’ and his Mum loves to get creative with flower arranging, so it made total sense to enlist their help. Hand cut blooms were displayed around the marquee and house in gin bottles the family had collected especially for the big day. She also created pretty bouquets of Gypsophila for Tanya and her bridesmaids.
During the winter months, ceremonies are conducted inside the barn but, as the weather allowed, David and Tanya opted to have theirs outside surrounded by woodland. A string quartet accompanied proceedings and a close friend of the couple conducted the ceremony making it feel extra special. After the ceremony, guests were treated to drinks and canapés on the lawn next to the barn.
The Wedding Breakfast
A small octagonal marquee housed the wedding breakfast with speeches conducted between each course. What made this day especially emotional was long lost members of the groom’s family being reunited.
Back to the barn to cut the cake which was lovingly made by a friend of the family followed by the their first dance before the DJ helped them and their guests party late into the night!
The Wedding Photography
Chaucer Barn is great as there are so many different areas within which to capture lovely portrait and reportage photography. The barn itself is very characterful and offers a great backdrop for bride and groom prep photos while outside there are both formal and wild gardens as well as rustic wood stores, fairy light entwined archways and unique topiary.
