Q&A with lovely Bride-to-be, Hannah

This week we are chatting to lovely Bride-to-be, Hannah who tells us about her romantic get-a-way to Bali where her partner of 7 years got down on one knee and proposed during sunset. She goes on to tell us how she secured her barn venue of dreams that has been featured in Downton Abbey!

1. Where did you meet your partner?
We met through mutual friends & became
Facebook friends. These were before the Tinder days! We started messaging, exchanged numbers & went on our first date quickly afterwards. We have been inseparable since!

2. How long had you been together before you became engaged?
We had been together almost 7 years before we became engaged. We met when we were 20!

3. Can you remember an exact point when you looked at your partner and thought “he’s the one!”
Probably from our 3rd date, I looked at him and realised I didn’t want to be without him – ever!

4. Where and how did the proposal take place? Was it expected or a complete shock?
We got engaged after travelling around Bali for 2 weeks. We had been to a gorgeous island, a forest/jungle sort of place and ended at a gorgeous beach town called Canggu. We had a beautiful villa rented for just the two of us – private pool, outdoor kitchen & a shower with an open ceiling! We’d had a lovely day at the beach, Alex was surfing & I was sat at a beach bar watching. It was time to walk home & it was almost dark – he stopped behind me & I turned round to find him on one knee!

5. What does marriage mean to you?
It is everything – it is when we finally become a couple legally & on paper. We will share the same surname & it is a new beginning!

6. Did you both have the opportunity to meet each other’s families before the engagement?
We have been lucky enough to meet each other’s families several times before we became engaged. We know each other’s families really well & they were delighted to hear our news.

7. Have you always had a set idea of how you’d like your wedding day or are you open to ideas?
We always imagined a barn & a little church. We were luckily enough to find exactly that in Oxfordshire! Complete with a couple of farm animals too – it was even featured in Downton Abbey!

8. Are you planning a small intimate ceremony or a large wedding?
It is probably described as a medium sized wedding – we have around 100 people for our ceremony & reception.

9. Have you enjoyed wedding planning so far? What’s been the most enjoyable part? What’s been the most stressful part?
We loved researching venues & suppliers. Food tasting for our evening food we chose – calzones – was amazing! I also loved finding a videographer and watching so many clips of people’s weddings it made it feel so real. As we have now postponed, I have more time to dedicate to little details such as signing up to a calligraphy course so I can DIY some of our decor {our venue is DIY}. The most stressful part was not knowing what would happen due to covid and living with day to day uncertainty but that didn’t come until April time I would say.

10. What are your future plans together?
Once we are married, we want to find our family home to renovate. We’ve been lucky enough to own 2 homes but have been so busy to put our stamp on, we are looking forward to a little project! I also want another dog – but I have some persuading to do first!

Thank you for taking the time to speak to us today and we wish you all the love and happiness in the future.
